Six military veterans are the newest southern union millwrights and carpenters, thanks to a program designed specifically to transform their military skills into a career in union construction.
Congratulations to new Southern States Millwrights Enoch Tamba, Jamain King, Jason Livingston, and Damian Brown; and new Southeastern Carpenters Theodore Durcharme and Blake Haliburton.
Program participants take part in a free, eight-week training program at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, which gives military vets basic skill sets with hands-on projects for real-world experience as carpenters or millwrights. Once civilians, these veterans will join a UBC Local Union as a second-year apprentice. Participants complete common-core training such as OSHA 10 and first aid during the first half of the program. They then break into millwright or carpenter training groups for the remaining four weeks.

The Military Veterans Program helps soldiers transition out of the U.S. Army and into careers as carpenters or millwrights. This is the third class to graduate from the Fort Campbell MVP program.
